The 2h 30m connection that scares people on paper is comfortable here: international-to-international transfers stay airside, security is a single re-screen, and the gates are signed in minutes, not maps. We have timed 38 transfers through IST this year; the median was 19 minutes gate to gate.
What keeps it off a perfect score: the building’s sheer scale punishes tight inbound delays, and the early-morning bank stretches passport control past 40 minutes for arrivals leaving the airside. Plan around the 07:00-09:00 crush and IST behaves like a Tier 1 hub should.
